Dr. Abbass Haider, Lecturer, Govt. College Korangi, Karachi.
    Abstract:

In this article the authors have presented new dimensions of the history of Kufa. Generally it was believed that the people of Kufa deceiver and imposter but the author of this article proved historicallythat there were atleast five types of people living in Kufa. Some of them were deceiver but some of them were loyal to the Islam and the true leaders of Islam. When Imam Hussain was trying to enter Kufa he was not allowed by Ibn Ziad and he went to Karbala. More than fifty percent companions of Imam Hussain were from Kufa. The city of Kufa saw many revolutionary movements after the incident of Karbala and the people loyal to Ahlul Byte were among the supporters of those movements. In different traditions by the holy Prophet ﷺ it is also narrated that when Imam Mehdi will appear the city of Kufa will become his capital and headquarters. It is concluded that attributing Kufa to the deceivers is not true rather this city should be attributed to Imam Ali as he had made this city a capital of Islmic State and in some tradition it has been recognized as haram of amir ul momineen.

نبی کریم ﷺ: پیغمبر امن و سلامتی
Prophet Muhammadﷺ: The Prophet of Peace
    Author/s:
Dr. Syed Aziz ur Rahman, Incharge Regional Dawah Centre (Sindh) Karachi.
    Abstract:

Peace is an absolute and universal rational category. It was sought by all religions. Islam was no exception to this rule. Dawn of Islam began in the tribal conditions of Arab. War was next to their social nature. Holy Quran uses the language of ‘four holy’ months which explains the necessity and significance of peace in socio cultural milieu of Islam. Very interestingly, peace brings about economic and social tranquility. Here peace may be an after effect of socio-economic tranquility. However, it is should be noted that peace is grounded in the establishment of justice. The word ‘peace’ if ever can comprehensively be applied on single personality in the world history, it is only and only true for Muhammad – the prophet of Islam – ﷺ. It was in his credit that he turned a warrior nation into a peace loving and peace seeking nation. He provided two theoretical models for the understating of peace. Firstly, peace is brought as a result of war. Here peace is for short term. Secondly, in order to continue, on the other hand, one has to establish socio economic justice in order to make society peaceful. The paper argues that prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ missionary efforts were peace headed and nothing else. He engaged in wars for a very brief period of time. Later, he successfully eradicated economic class consciousness, extremism, and instilled the values of patience and tolerance. This all paved the way to long lasting peace.

The Promotion of Zakat and the Prohibition of Interest in the State of Madinah
    Author/s:
Dr. Arif Khan Saqi, Associate Professor,Department of Islamic Learning, University of Karachi, Karachi.
    Abstract:

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ had successfully turned Madinah into an effective welfare state in the modern sense of the term. ‘Interest’ was forbidden without any ambiguity. It was considered to be the womb of social and economic evil. From theoretical illumination to its complete political enforcement, prophet Muhammad ﷺ had prevented the indigenous people from the uncountable bad effects and socio economic repercussions of interest of the time. As an alternative, off course with the commandments of Allah almighty, the system of zakat was established with its intrinsic spirit in response to the interest. Under the light of divine commandments, Muslims, be men or women, with specific conditions like minimum particular amount for a certain period under specific conditions were asked to pay zakat. It was implemented and enforced with all its spiritual and material requirements. The paper argues that the enforcement of zakat should be construed as comprehensive financial system of the state of Madinah. As any modern state, the state of Madinah distributed this amount to the needy and served the citizens. It will provide scientific evidences to support this argument.

Madinah, Zakat, Economic, Evil, Interest, Financial System.

    Abstract:

It is a well-known fact that the teachings of the Holy Quran did not only relieve womankind from innumerable troubles and the plight of inhuman treatment, but it also elevated their status to the dignity par excellence. Women faced three major challenges in their social lives. Foremost, their position to be regarded at least equally a ‘human’ like men, the second was the security threat and third was their honour. The Holy Quran, with its comprehensive, all-time effective and benevolent teachings, responded to all their social, moral and spiritual needs and bestowed them all-round equality, protection, and dignity. Indeed, the teachings of the Holy Quran led womankind towards dignity from darkness and oppression. This article includes well elaborated description of all three paradigm related to dignity of women that Holy Quran focusses and the same are the elements that are required to be elevated and redifined in the light of Quranic descourse in order to elevate, protect and maintan the status of women at present age.
