  Abstract:

  The term ‘Reference to the Context’ lies at the very foundation of understanding and knowledge. The very term implies to understand and comprehend the context of any knowledge one needs to understand its reference, hence, the ‘reference to the context’. Understanding religion lies in understanding the need and, applying this very concept for a clarion concept of what it is stating, why it is stating, in what setting it is stating, to whom is it stating, does the statement (or statements) carry a universal appeal, or a metaphorical nuance, or limited to the first addressees only? The paper endeavors to present certain (popular) aspects of Quranic understanding in the light of the reference of context; enabling the reader of the Qur’an to correlate his or her understanding with the very purpose of the verses.

  Abstract:

  What brings morality into existence found extensive interpretation since ancient times and one is more persuading than the other. However, following the enlightenment’s empirical approach to which Darwin and Adam Smith turned their attention for every moral dilemma lies in the concept of Sympathy. Both the authors believe, though without logical proof but based on the observation that it is the innate consciousness of Sympathy towards fellow beings responsible for the judgment on morality. Adam smith combined the struggle and sentiments as the sole premise to judge an ethical approach in society. Darwin with his concept of the evolution struggled to explain that sympathy in human lineage evolved into social instincts that gave it a more general flavor, strict empiricism. The question this article formulates is that was the concept of morality based on sympathy was a new and Western concept?. Therefore, at first this article will detail the concepts of sympathy understood by Adam Smith and Darwin. It will highlight the process and situation behind such approach contextualizing the role of evolution. In the second part this article will discuss this concept of sympathy based morality in the teachings of the Prophet of Islam ,ﷺ where he not only understood the nature of human existence but also evolved a new Medinan society. Moreover, it shows the contrasts and similarities between Islamic and Western understanding of sympathy based morality. Hence, it opens a new window to look at intellectual heritage and their relations.

  Abstract:

  Syed PirMuhammad Karam Shah Al-Azhari (1 July 1918 – 7 April 1998) was an Islamic Scholar, chief Justice of The Supreme Courtof Pakistan ,Muffasir, Seerah writer and Muslim leader. He is knownfor his magnum opus, Tafseer meaning “The light of the Qurān”. He is also the author Zia un Nabiﷺ, or “Life of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ”, a detailed biography of Muhammad ﷺ in seven volumes. Syed Pir Karam Shah Al-Azhari was a scholarly and intellectual personality, in this regard he rendered immense services for the sake of knowledge, thought and public interest. In this article, an effort will be made to present an unbiased comment on his thoughts and services with thorough research and critical eye, therefore the purpose of the essay is to discuss in detail what was the purpose of life and the code of life more than the conditions of life. That is why this article has been written.

  Abstract:

  Millions of scholars and nobles have been born in this Ummah who have left their enlightening effects on this world and whose biographies, if studied, reveal many hidden secrets that became the source of their success. One of these great personalities is the name of Sheikh ul Hind MaulanaMahmoodUlHasan (1851-1920). He was a revolutionary personality. Sheikh Ul Hind's revolutionary life was like a bright lamp whose every aspect was bright and dazzling.He actively participated in politics as well as academic achievements and started many movements. He suffered the oppression of the British but still he continued his work. Aligarh and Deoband were also introduced by Sheikh Ul Hind. He also travelled to different cities of India and continued his activities outside India.The British themselves used to say that even if Sheikh ul Hind was burnt, hatred for the British would come out of his dust. His only goal was to free India from slavery and he spent his entire life in this struggle. In fact, such people are our real capital.

  Abstract:

  The dilemma of sectarianism and sectarian violence in Pakistan is still existing for a few decades. Generally, sectarianism is conducted to reproduce religious violence and reinforce exclusivist sectarian discourse. In fact, sectarianism brings intolerance and religious extremism to the religious groups of Pakistani society. Due to such an extreme tendency toward sectarianism, one religious group consider the other as an unbeliever. Although, the teachings of Islam explicitly tender that disagreement of the jurists is a blessing and existed since the era of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) till today. The caliphs, followers, followers of the followers, and Muslim jurists have diverse opinions on many issues, but none has considered the other as a non-believer. Islam is the religion of peace and teaches about harmony and tolerance. The dialogue environment must be encouraged in a decent manner and respectful way so the tendency to declare someone an unbeliever is restricted. Sectarianism has become a phenomenon in Pakistan and this paper represents a contemporary analysis of sectarianism in Pakistani society by contextualizing its causes. This study indicates the wider fault lines of religious sectarianism and draws out the impacts of sectarian violence in Pakistani society. Finally, this research presents a conclusion to solve the issue of sectarianism and Sectarian Discourse established in Pakistan through organized religious groups.

  Al-Ikhtisār in the Narrations of al-Siqāt and its Consequences on Narrators and Narrations

  Abstract:

  The validity of ḥadīth text depends on the condition that it has been narrated without any change or interruption in its text. Typically siqah narrators have narrated ḥadīth as they heard it without making any changing in the text and chain of ḥadīth. Furthermore, the narrator, whosoever had intentionally made any change in any part of ḥadīth, his ʼadālah is toppled. Nevertheless, in some cases, siqah narrators have made some changes in the text of ḥadīth without any bad intention, such as Ikhtisār for jurisprudential reasoning or to mention a specific issue. Ikhtisār of āḥadīth found in narrations of sīqah narrators, some of them do so often, and some others rarely do. And whenever such change or disruption has been made even by an imam, it has been pointed out by scholars. The Ikhtisār in the text āḥadīth is permitted conditionally for those narrators who were language experts, so they do not change the meaning of the text nor disrupt it. This study is related to ikhtisār of the text of prophetic āḥadīth by siqah narrators. This article is aimed to discuss the parameters of Ikhtisār, and what are the causes that lead the narrators to do Ikhtisār and study examples of disruption when īkhtīsār in the text was made, and the consequences of doing ikhtisār on sīqah narrators and ḥadīth narrations. The article is a masterpiece of thorough and encompassing beneficial research for the students of ḥadīth and scholars in the science of ḥadīth.
